Fleet fuel efficiency: With a fleet card, fleet managers can place limits on the card such as limiting how much fuel is being purchased or making a card valid only on certain days of the week (so if no business is conducted on weekends, the card won’t work on weekends).  This will prevent unauthorized use and will help drivers to manage their fuel consumption better. Better fuel consumption can also be accomplished by finding shorter routes or routes that are more fuel-efficient. It is also important to perform regular maintenance on vehicles within a fleet to improve fuel efficiency including- watching your air filter since when an air filter is clogged, it negatively impacts a vehicle’s fuel efficiency by 10%, checking your tires since properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by around 3.3% and by using the manufacturer recommended grade of motor oil for the vehicles in your fleet, gas mileage will improve by 1 to 2%.
